This study was conducted to determine the effect of century plant (A. Americana Linn.) on healing of a surgical castration wound of catsA total of eighteen (18) male cats 10 months to 1 year of age were used in the study using (3) three treatments, with (3) three replications and (2) two animals in each replicate. T1 was the positive control treated with commercial topical wound cream ®TopiDerm. T2 was treated with A. Americana dried leaves solar infused in oil extract. T3 was treated with A. americana leaf fresh extract. Observations and assessment of gross lesions were done on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th, 19th, and 21st day on each experimental animal. The study revealed that both Agave americana Linn. leaves extract fresh and dried solar infused with olive oil and other commercialized topical wound healing cream like ®TopiDerm were proven effective on the treatment of surgical castration wound of cats. Based on the results T3 fresh leaves extract of century plant showed rapid and immediate reggresion of swelling, redness and exudation observed on Day 3 (mean value of 0.27) as compared to the control (mean value of 0.85) ®TopiDerm T1 and is significantly different from each other. However, T3 showed irritation which causes minimal defenses on the healing process of the wound affecting the numerical comparative result in the mean values on Day 11 suggesting that T1 is more potent among the treatment.
