Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to determine the activity of Petung bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper) leaves infusion to vermicide action and morphometry of Haemonchus contortus adult worms under in vitro. The research was firstly concerned with making 0.2% and 2,4% Petung bamboo leaves infusion. Adult worms were obtained directly from abomasum of naturally infected Bligon goats that were slaughtered at Animal Slaughter House. To investigate the matter, vermicide of adult worms at various doses and times of observation as well as differences in Haemonchus contortus morphometry were analyzed using ANOVA. The findings disclosed that Petung bamboo leaves infusion showed a significant difference in the vermicide and morphometry of Haemonchus contortus adult worms at various doses and times of observation. Petung bamboo leaves infusion has a significant difference to the vermicide level at various doses and time of observation as well as the morphometry of adult Haemonchus contortus . This infusion was able to kill Haemonchus contortus after 2 hours in vitro. The best dose to increase the vermicide action is 2.4% of infusion.
